The Social Justice Hub Housing Equity team, new in the spring semester 2021, increases awareness through education, community building, organization partnerships, and initiatives related to housing insecurities connecting with greater Dane County organizations.
The Housing Equity team creates meaningful discussions on the topic of homelessness and housing inequality, particularly in Madison. Through weekly meetings, we hope to promote campus awareness and allow for students to become more involved. Our Housing Equity action team promotes volunteer opportunities in the Madison/Dane County area, as well as coordinates guest-speaker events throughout the semester.
Currently the Social Justice Hub is working with The Beacon, Porchlight Homeless Solutions, UrbanTriage, and First United Methodist Church Food Shelf. Most Saturdays we have volunteer events that include helping to build houses to grocery shopping for people stuck at home. Come one time, or come every time, and help out Madison’s community while making friends in the process! Fill out our volunteer interest form to be included in future opportunities.
